According to Variety, former American Idol winner and country music superstar Carrie Underwood has held talks with ABC about the possibility of joining the rebooted show as a judge. Underwood’s return make sense for the show as she is arguably its most notable alum.

In addition to Underwood, Variety reports other American Idol alumni have been linked to the role of judge including Adam Lambert (season eight contestant) and Chris Daughtry (season five contestant).

Winner of season four, Underwood would not be the first country superstar to serve as an Idol judge. From season 11 – 15, the show’s final season which saw country artist Trent Harmon named the winner, Keith Urban served as judge along with artists such as Mariah Carey, Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Nicki Minaj.

American Idol is reportedly set to return in March.
