Having a sneaker collection has become more and more popular for guys over the past few years. If you are looking for a country artist who follows this trend, look no further than Thomas Rhett.
The “Crash and Burn” artist hasn’t always been into collecting sneakers, in fact he just began doing so about four years ago. Rhett began his music career by rocking cowboy boots on stage, but once the energy of his shows began to pick up, he knew he needed a change.
“During my live shows I was wearing nothing but cowboy boots” Rhett told Billboard. “When I started to move around the stage a little bit more, my live show became way more energetic and I knew I had to ditch the cowboy boots because I was literally going to break my ankle.”
The transition from boots to sneakers was not an easy one for Rhett. He called it the most “terrifying” transition of his life.
During his shows, Rhett is not the only one who wears sneakers, but his band does as well. The 26-year-old country artist and his band try to pick a theme each year when it comes to their footwear. Last year, they all agreed to wear Vans on stage, while this year they have decided to sport the Nike Cortez. Rhett said that everybody gets a few different colorways of the sneaker that way they can match their different outfits with their footwear.
This June, Rhett will be a part of the 33rd annual 92.5 XTU Anniversary Show at the BB&T pavilion in Camden, New Jersey. We wonder what his sneaker of the day will be then?
