Andie Summers Predicts Sturgill Simpson Will Pull Off Upset At Grammys

By: Greg Sacidor

The looming showdown between Adele and Beyoncé, who are both up for three of the night’s biggest awards, may be the talk of this year’s Grammys, but Andie Summers of the XTU Morning Crew  thinks it will be a country man who comes out on top.

When it comes to Album of the Year, some of music’s biggest names such as Adele and Beyoncé will be vying for the award. However, in what would be as big of a surprise as the New England Patriots rallying from 25 points down in the Super Bowl, Andie  told our sister television station CBS3 that she predicts Sturgill Simpson will be the one who adds the coveted piece of hardware to his trophy collection.

Of course, the Grammys are as much about the awards as they are the performances and one thing Andie said she is looking forward to the most come Sunday is the duet between Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood. The two country superstars are scheduled to take to the stage together to perform their track “The Fighter,” which the XTU Morning Crew jock just loves.

Urban, who is nominated for three Grammys this year, will be busy in Andie’s mind, as she feels he will beat out a talented field of artists like Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris and Brandy Clark to take home the award for Best Country Solo Performance.

In other categories, it looks like Adele will be a big winner, at least according to Andie. She expects the 28-year-old singer to walk away with both Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

While some of the genre’s biggest names will be of obvious attention during the annual awards show, the Morning Crew jock says to watch out for some of country’s rising stars. This year, two artists with bright futures ahead of them in Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris will go head-to-head for the overall Best New Artist award.

The 59th annual Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday, February 12 at 8 p.m. only on CBS3.
