If you are a country music fan, then you know all about the bro-country trend. If you are a country music fan, then you also know about the more recent trend of women on country radio. One of the artists at the forefront of this is Kelsea Ballerini, who says seeing this trend being represented at the Grammy Awards is “so cool.”
The 23-year-old singer recently talked to People in the lead up to February’s Grammy Awards. At the awards show, Ballerini will be up for Best New Artist along with fellow country singer Maren Morris.
When asked about her and Morris being up for one of the night’s biggest awards, Ballerini said that it was “so so cool” to see the recent trend of women on the radio represented through the category.
“I don’t think there’s ever been two female country artists in that category before, so it’s a big deal” Ballerini said. “I’m stoked to do it with her!”
Along with Ballerini and Morris, artists Chance The Rapper, Anderson .Paak and The Chainsmokers have also been nominated for Best New Artist.
The 59th annual Grammy Awards take place on Sunday, February 12 and will air live on CBS.
