In the new film titled God Bless the Broken Road, the former NFL star and current NFL Network analyst will play the role of a pastor who tries to help a distressed mother who struggles to raise her daughter after she lost her husband to war in Afghanistan.

The film will also star Lindsay Pulsipher, Jordin Sparks and Philadelphia native Kim Delaney.

Tomlinson spent 11 years in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and the New York Jets. In 2006, he was named the league’s Most Valuable Player after he set the record for most rushing touchdowns in a single season (28) and most total touchdowns from scrimmage in a single season (31). Both records still stand to this day.

“Bless The Broken Road” was recorded by Rascal Flatts in 2004 and spent five weeks at the top of the Hot Country Singles chart. It also won a Grammy Award for best country song. It was originally released by the Nitty Gritty Band back in 1994.

God Bless The Broken Road is scheduled to be released on February 10.
