Kenny Chesney is set to join rare company.
At the 2016 CMA Awards, country superstar Kenny Chesney will be honored with the show’s Pinnacle Award. The “Setting the World On Fire” singer will become only the third recipient of the award since its creation in 2005, joining previous winners Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift.
The Pinnacle Award was first created to recognize the artists who have risen to worldwide prominence through things such as concerts and record sales.
In a press release, Chesney said “to receive this award, especially during their 50th anniversary, is such an honor because they’re recognizing half a century of country music.”
The 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards will take place on November 2.
