The first set of performers for the 2016 CMA Awards have been announced and the list includes some big time stars.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will pull double duty and serve as both host and performer. Joining Paisley and Underwood as performers will also be Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Maren Morris and Keith Urban according to Redbook.
Although these six performers are already some of the biggest and best acts in all of country music, more performers for this year’s show are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
Shane McAnally, member of the CMA board, said that this year’s show will focus on country music’s history with artists performing classic country songs with or in place of their current singles.
The 2016 edition will mark the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards. Back in September over 30 different country artists came together to create the track “Forever Country” in honor the award show’s golden anniversary.
This year’s CMA Awards will take place on November 2.
